Schedule

Here is the schedule for all lectures and exams for our 2026 General Histology course.

Next to each lecture, you’ll find the lecture slides in two formats (ppt and pdf). All of our lectures are scheduled to be recorded by Mediasite, and I’ll post each lecture recording on this page as soon as it is available (usually the same day as the lecture).

Most of our lectures will be in-person and held in 2-620 Moos. However, I will be out of the country from 9/16 to 10/13. This means that the following 7 class sessions will be asynchronous (not in the classroom):

Tuesday 10/6: Pancreas, Liver, and Gallbladder
Thursday 10/8: Respiratory System
Tuesday 10/13: Urinary System

Since I can’t be in class in person on those dates, I’ve posted last year’s lecture videos for all of these sessions except for the lecture on 9/24, which would have been an in-class Exam review Kahoot (for this session, I’ve posted the Exam 2 Review Kahoot itself for you to go through on your own).

During this asynchronous class time, I’ll be checking my U of MN email daily, and I’ll also be available if you want to set up a Zoom meeting to talk about stuff. Don’t worry about the time difference – I will be mindful of checking email during regular CST hours and I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible.

About exams. Exams will be delivered on Canvas and proctored using the Honorlock proctoring system.

Normally, I leave the exams open all day and use online proctoring, so you can take the exam when and where you like. That’s what I had planned for this class, as I mentioned on during our first class session on 8/17.

However, the administration has changed the exam policy as of today (8/17/26), and now all exams must be given in the classroom, during the regular class time, using Canvas and Honorlock. The only exception to these rules is for online class exams; these must be completed during the normal class time, using Canvas and Honorlock – but they can be taken anywhere you like.

So for our class this year, exams 1 and 3 will given in the classroom, during our normally-scheduled class time, using Canvas/Honorlock. Since our class is online from September 17 until October 13, exam 2 will count as an online exam – so you can take it wherever you want (Canvas/Honorlock and the time limitation still apply, though).

Also just a reminder to those of you with accommodations: I should receive an email from the DRC with your information – but please drop me a quick email as well, just so I make sure to catch everyone. I will adjust your exam time according to your accommodations, and if your accommodations include a quiet room, you’ll need to contact the DRC prior to the exam date, giving them the date and time of your exam, so you can take the exam there.

I’ll give you specific information about each exam (password, number of questions, a reminder of when and where the exam will be given, etc.) several days prior to each exam date.

* Note: The last 40 minutes or so of lecture was recorded by the podium microphone, unfortunately – so the audio is muted in some places when I walk too far away from the microphone. If you turn the volume way up during those muted sections, you can hear most of the words. I watched the entire video, and I believe that the important points are all hearable – so even though it’s really annoying, I don’t think you’re missing anything vital. I apologize for the error! Please let me know if you have any questions on this last part of the recording (or on the rest of the material, for that matter).

See the “About Exams” section at the top of this page for more details on this year’s new exam delivery policy.
