Hi everyone –
I’ve finalized the exam and I wanted to let you know the total number of questions and the breakdown per lecture, along with a few things to keep in mind as you’re reviewing the material.
There are 42 questions, roughly distributed according to the amount and density of information in each lecture:
- Gastrointestinal tract: 10
- Liver/gallbladder/pancreas: 8
- Respiratory system: 7
- Urinary system: 7
- Female reproductive system: 5
- Male reproductive system: 5
All questions are multiple choice, one correct answer, no photos.
When you’re studying, please make sure you know the answers to the lecture objectives for each lecture. And it would be a good idea to go through the seven Kahoots listed under Exam 3 on our Kahoots page.
Also, here are some little things to help with concepts that can be confusing:
- Stomach vs. small intestine histology
- Quick summary of GI tract histology (do you know what layers a plicum vs. a villus contains?)
- A simple visual depiction of respiratory tract mucosa, from bronchus to alveolus
- A simple drawing of the nephron that takes you step by step through the names, histologic appearances, and functions of the different segments
- A quick summary of ovarian follicle maturation (and also what’s inside each follicle stage)
- How Beyonce can help you remember what the corona radiata, granulosa cells, cumulus oophorus, and corpus luteum are
The exam will take place during our normally-scheduled class time on Tuesday, 10/7, from 1:00 – 2:55). The exam code is Exam3!
Be sure to bring your privacy screen. If you want to double check the classroom settings for Honorlock we’ll be using, you can take the mock exam on Canvas entitled “Practice Exam with Honorlock Proctoring Settings Off.”
And also: feel free to email me anytime with questions or concerns.
It’s been a privilege to get to know you guys a little bit during this first part of your dental school training. You are all amazing! I have so many saved emails with kind words from you. AND I have a GORG blanket that has become my favorite source of comfort when I come home 🙂
